Reserves in Cup Final Defeat
Rangers Reserves were in action on Monday in the Reg Eglon Cup final against Uplyme Reserves. It was the second straight year they made the final, but unfortunately it was the same outcome this time around as in 2016. Scott Purdy's team went down 3-0 to a very good Uplyme Reserves side.
On the defeat, the Gaffer said "I'd like to thank everyone who was involved in supporting us on Monday. Unfortunately Uplyme Reserves were to strong for us & full credit to them as they came out the worthy winners. It wasn't our year as a club for silverware but hopefully next year will be our time".
Purdy picked out two players as his best performers on the day, Lewis England in defence and Mark Brunt in goal. Monday was Brunt's last game for the club as he's decided to hang up his boots after a successful playing career. "If it wasn't for Mark’s superb saves the game could have been out of sight in the 1st half", said Scott, "Mark has been a great servant to the club & will be missed on & off the pitch. We all wish him well & no doubt know he'll be at most games with his wife Jay & their little man Ernie (the next Rangers star). All the best Mark from all your family at Crewkerne Rangers FC."
