Rangers Narrowly Miss Out in Final

28 March 2016

Rangers Reserves put in an excellent battling performance today (28th March 2016) but ultimately went down 2-1 to Combe B in the Reg Eglon Cup final.

Combe B were firm favourites heading into this Bank Holiday clash as a side playing a division higher than Rangers Reserves. It all seemed to be going by the form book when the Saints took the lead through Mike Usher. However, Rangers came out flying in the second half and soon equalised when Ian Bambury pounced on an error from Combe keeper Trevor Priddle. Rangers were on top for spells but Combe regained the lead with a towering Wayne Behan header. Rangers came close to finding an equaliser as they sought to force extra time, but the Saints held on to bag a cup triumph.

Rangers can be proud of their achievement in reaching their second Reg Eglon Cup final in 3 years, and mathing their opponents for large periods of the game.
